Fernando Acuña

Fernando is a Veterinarian from the University of Chile, specialized in production and food safety as well in agricultural products. Fernando has a vast experience in the negotiation and implementation of international agreements in sanitary and phytosanitary measurements and technical commercial barriers.
Fernando has represented Chile in different international forums as the World Trade Organization, Codex Alimentarius, Group World Wine Trade and The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
At DERECON Chile (General Direction Economic Foreign Affairs) Mr. Acuña worked with the National Fishing Service, The Fisheries Health Department, and Coordinator for the Lab program to control all exportation of fishery products.
After being part of the department of foreign affairs (Cancilleria DIRECON), Mr. Acuña worked as Adviser in Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measurements--later on as Chief of the North American, Central America and Caribbean Department, he was in charge of the coordination of all negotiations and implementations of commercial agreement between countries of that region. Following this position, Mr Acuña was named Chief of the Department in charge of Asia and Oceania, also coordinating negotiations and implementations of the commercial agreements with those regions.
Mr. Acuña was named Trade Commissioner of Chile in Canada and Director of the Commercial office of Chile based in Toronto since September 2017.
