Mr. Jean-Dominique Ieraci was appointed Deputy Head of Mission and Minister-Counsellor (Trade) at the Embassy of Canada in Mexico in August 2016.

Before his transfer to Mexico, Mr. Ieraci had been Director General, Trade Sectors at Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (now Global Affairs Canada-GAC) since October 2013, where he was responsible for the support to the internationalisation of Canadian firms in the 22 main sectors of the economy. He most notably developed and implemented Canada’s Extractives’ Strategy, its International Education Strategy and the international component of the Defense Procurement Strategy.

Mr. Ieraci was beforehand Minister-Counsellor, Economic and Commercial Affairs, at the Canadian Embassy in Paris from 2008-2013, where he managed programs supporting Canadian exports, investment, technology exchanges and innovation, as well as economic relations.

Mr. Ieraci previously worked in diplomatic offices in Singapore, South Korea, and in Syria, from where he also managed the offices in Jordan and Cyprus, as well as trade relations with Iraq. In his rotations in Canada, Mr. Ieraci held various positions within Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) in corporate sectors and operations, including the Media Relations Office, Human Resources and Client Services.

Mr. Ieraci graduated in industrial engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, with a major in Project Management. He is married and has 3 children.
