Julio César Rivas is a journalist that has worked for 30 years as a foreign correspondent, photographer and videographer in Central America, North America and Europe.
During his career, Julio has covered the end of the armed conflicts in Guatemala and El Salvador, lived first-hand the Zapatista uprising in Southern Mexico, and covered the coup d’etat that ousted Haiti’s Jean-Bertrand Aristide. He has also covered several US presidential elections, including the historic 2008 election of Barack Obama.
As Agencia EFE correspondent in Canada, Julio has covered indigenous conflicts, the controversial seal hunt in the East Coast as well as other social, political and cultural affairs.
Julio is also the co-founder of XQuadra Media, a Canadian company focused in communications.
He lives in Toronto with his partner and their two kids.
