Rodrigo Contreras was the Trade & Investment Commissioner of Mexico in Toronto Canada. Under his responsibility is the promotion of trade and investment opportunities in the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.

Since his arrival to PROMEXICO in 2008, Rodrigo has held the positions of Trade & Investment Commissioner of Mexico in Shanghai, Executive Director for Investor Relations, Executive Director for Investment Projects and Investment Project Coordinator, all of which have allowed him to gain the confidence of investors and global corporations, that have invested in Mexico.

Previously, Rodrigo held also various positions related to Foreign Direct Investment Promotion at the State Government of Baja California Mexico (for many years one of the top FDI destinations in Mexico), amongst them, the position of Director of Strategic Investments, where he was responsible for managing key projects and investor accounts in sectors such as electronics, gaming and software industries.

Through his government service, Rodrigo has contributed at the State & Federal level, in the development and implementation of industrial policies and programs to support Foreign Direct Investment in High-tech and Clean Industries.

Prior to his government service, Rodrigo worked in the private sector in the telecommunications industry, collaborating early on in the introduction of internet services in Mexico. Rodrigo has also contributed in the academic sector, lecturing in areas related to investment project analysis, management and international business.

He has a degree in International Business Management and also has studies in business, finance, economic development and technology management.
