Mr. Emmond joined Export Development Canada (EDC) in 2012 and has more than 10 years of banking, risk assessment, and business development experience. He was appointed Regional Manager International Business Development in July 2013, with responsibility for EDC’s activities in Mexico.

Most recently, he served as a Risk Analyst assessing a portfolio of companies on EDC’s Risk Assessment and Portfolio Management (RAPM) team, part of EDC’s accounts receivable insurance department. He performed credit analysis on a portfolio of international buyers of Canadian exports in the extractive sector, mainly mining and steel. Prior to joining EDC, Mr. Emmond worked in Credit and Counterparty Risk with Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) in Toronto. There he performed fundamental credit analysis on OTPP’s OTC derivative counterparties, and assessed the competitive reactions of global banks to modified financial regulation (e.g. Basel III) and the sovereign debt crisis in Europe. Previous to that, Mr. Emmond spent 7 years with Scotiabank, with roles in Corporate Banking (New York), as well as credit risk management for commercial lending (Mexico City) and Financial Institutions (Toronto).

Mr. Emmond holds a BA in Latin American History from the University of Manitoba, a diploma in Spanish English translation, and an MBA from McGill University in Montreal.
